Senior consultant

Job Summary

Senior Consultant must be meticulous and analytical, with deep knowledge of auditing practices. We expect Senior Consultant to be reliable, with strong organizational skills, as well as expertise in risk management and compliance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Strong expertise in audit methodologies and leading audit teams effectively.
  • Efficient management of audit engagements with timely planning and review.
  • Proactively identifies and escalates emerging risk-related issues.
  • Oversee client portfolios with consistent monthly monitoring.
  • Organizes and facilitates thorough team planning meetings.
  • Conducts and ensures high-quality audits and detailed work paper reviews.
  • Detects technical issues early and consults relevant specialists when needed.
  • Produces complete, logical, and high-quality audit files and documents.
  • Utilizes technology to enhance audit performance and efficiency.
  • Drafts grammatically accurate and standards-compliant reports and statements.
  • Ensures compliance with firm policies and independence requirements.
  • Builds strong client relationships and engages in relevant issues.
  • Delivers timely client reports, identifying control weaknesses and improvements.
  • Provides on-the-job training and development for junior staff.
  • Promotes ethical conduct and escalates inappropriate behavior or noncompliance.
  • Manages audit projects within budget, documenting and communicating overruns.
  • Upholds operational discipline including accurate time tracking and billing.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Completed SAICA Articles
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An honors qualification in accounting and auditing will be an advantage

MAINE – Assistant Manager

Job Summary

Assistant Manager will lead and manage the engagement team on audit assignments of a portfolio of clients in various industries.  Assistant Manager will guide and mentor team members and review their work to ensure high quality, accurate, and efficient results and service delivery to clients.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Expert in audit methodologies with a strong ability to lead and guide audit teams.
  • Effectively manages audit engagements, ensuring timely planning and quality review.
  • Identifies and escalates emerging risks, ensuring partner awareness and mitigation.
  • Oversee client portfolios, delivering consistent monthly monitoring and insights.
  • Leads team planning meetings and ensures audit documentation is complete and timely.
  • Executes and reviews high-quality audits and ensures logical audit file documentation.
  • Use audit tools and technology efficiently to deliver comprehensive, quality audits.
  • Prepare accurate and standard-compliant reports, financial statements, and letters.
  • Maintains team independence and enforces compliance with internal policies.
  • Build credible internal and external client relationships and propose innovative solutions.
  • Analyzes complex issues and contributes meaningful recommendations to clients.
  • Delivers effective on-the-job training and mentorship for junior audit staff.
  • Monitors team performance and development through timely reviews and feedback.
  • Encourages ethical behavior, escalating non-compliance and misconduct as necessary.
  • Guides the audit team in applying tools, methods, and best practices consistently.
  • Manages engagements within approved budgets, tracks billing, and controls WIP.
  • Ensures all operational tasks like time tracking and billing patterns are followed diligently.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant Accounting Degree
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in an accounting firm
  • Completed SAICA Articles 
  • CA (SA)
  • Prior auditing experience 
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, GRAP, MCS, public sector laws and regulations and ISA.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Leadership experience in supervising audit teams advantageous
